Mel Eggleston is a successful thoroughbred trainer, situated on the Gold Coast. During his career Mel has had many wins, some of which are particularly memorable. Following are some of Mel's personal highlights.

Listed Races


Love And Money

Love And Money won the listed Tattersalls Fillies & Mares Quality at Eagle Farm in 2006. She won 7 races & $350,000 in stakes in a career shortened by injury.


Secret Gift

Secret Gift won 6 races during her career including the listed Mona Lisa Plate at Wyong beating the very talented Gentle Genius. She was also placed on 9 other occasions & won $250,000 in stakes.


Blazing Flight

Blazing Flight won 17 races & $250,000 in stakes including the listed Winter Stakes at Rosehill in 1998. He was also placed on 21 occasions & raced competitively until a 10 year old.


Our Lance

Our Lance was only trained by Mel in the twilight of his career. He won the Carrington Stakes, Royal Randwick in 1996. He was also 2nd in the group 3 Missile stakes & 3rd in the group 2 Challenge stakes at Rosehill. All of these performances were as a 7 year old.




Fuhrnatic had a limited career of just 21 races. She won 6 & was placed 6 including listed placings in two Fillies & Mares Qualities at Eagle Farm. She was plagued by hoof problems for her entire racing life but still managed to earn $100,000 in prizemoney.



Beamer had 17 wins & 35 placings in his very successful career. He won numerous metropolitan races on tracks in both QLD & NSW. He also won the Ballina cup in 2005 after beginning his racing life in 1999. He raced up until 2006 & won $350,000.


Yallah Breeze

Yallah Breeze was a very handy horse winning 9 races & $130,000 in prizemoney. He won races on every Sydney metropolitan track during his successful career.


Bet Big

Bet Big won 8 races & $100,000 in stakes. She won multiple Metropolitan races & took out the prestigious Akubra 2yo Country Championship final in 1994.



Mel's biggest highlight was to win the Million Dollar Golden Nugget race at the Gold Coast in 1991 with Tyrannic. A thrill that will be remembered for a lifetime. Tyrannic also won 4 other races before breathing problems ended her career. She only raced for 2 seasons & won $600,000 in stakes.
