After a series of unfortunate setbacks, including an aborted Melbourne campaign, classy Street Cry 6 year old mare Big Girls Don't Cry finally placed a smile on connections faces and justified their patience when she came from well back to score a convincing runaway victory in the 2100 metre No Metro win at a water logged Doomben yesterday.

Big Girls Don't Cry has always shown her owners plenty of ability from day one, however a constant run of frustrating hiccups have plagued her progress. With only limited starts (16) her 6 win career has been interupted by a throat operation and severe muscular damage to her hindquarters requiring a lengthy layoff after transferring to Melbourne where she was targeted at richer mares staying races.

It's pleasing that Big Girls is now back on track and her owners can look forward to future staying contests in Qld as she progresses through her classes and hopefully some more wet weather follows the mare's placement as her form indicates her liking for heavy going.
